Thank You God!
I thought I would just let you know we serve an awesome God!
I have been working to improve my ‘prayer life’ and improve the relationship that God and I have together. Lately, I’ve been a prayin’ and he’s been answerin’!
For instance, Ed McGill fell last Saturday. I prayed that God would heal him. Sure enough, Wednesday night came, and there is Ed McGill sitting at the door of the Church when I walk in. Another gentleman that I have been praying for, told me that things were getting better not out of the woods yet, but improvement was noted!
Another one happened yesterday. On Friday some friends and I went on a motorcycle ride up over New Found Gap and onto the Blue Ridge Parkway. I prayed for traveling safety before we left and then we as a group prayed that God would watch over us along the ride. And he did!
On the climb up to the gap, I made a mistake and dropped my bike. I was in a turn to the left and my eyes dropped down (I lost my focus which should have been on the road ahead.) Instead I dropped my gaze down ‘into’ the curve and sure enough found me and my bike sliding across the road and into the ditch on the right side.
I am OK. A little scuffed up, a little sore and a little bit wiser.
But God protected me through all that. I was wearing an armored riding jacket which is now a little tattered on the left side. So I did not get a ‘lot’ of road rash which I would have had in spades had I not been wearing it. God also made it so when I dropped and slid, I slid into a ditch and an embankment and not over a long drop which we all know are in plentiful supply up there. And then he placed a ‘good Samaritan’ right behind me that saw what happened, stopped and helped me pull the bike out of the ditch and get it started again. And the same Samaritan followed me (‘Us’ now because my son and another friend had noticed my absence and circled back to find me.) until I rejoined my group.
(Jesus loves me this I know, because the Bible tells me so . . . )
And finally as we were about to head home today, we were up near Johnson City and I checked the weather radar. Knowing rain was in the forecast, I wanted to see where it would likely hit us. Sure enough, there on the radar was a fast moving rain storm currently between Memphis and Nashville. The way it was tracking I thought it would hit us somewhere around Morristown. But we thought we would try to beat it. So guess what I did?
You’re right! I prayed. I prayed to the God that hears us when we talk to Him. The God with whom, I have a personal relationship. I prayed to Him that He would hold the rain until I got home.
And he did!
Now you can sit there and you can come up with any number of rational explanations for each of things. As for me though, I know it was God and I will give Him all of the praise and the Glory.
Prayer works. All you have to do is invest the time and effort to begin a relationship with God. Make Him your best friend and confide and trust in Him.
Your friend,
Roscoe
