Did You Ever Wonder?
It was another of those ‘Aha!’ moments.
I’ve been reading a book called the Case for Christ by Lee Strobel. Strobel was an investigative journalist for a major newspaper at one time. When his wife accepts Jesus Christ as her Lord and savior he begins his own investigation and research looking at the evidence of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Anyway, as I was reading about the evidence supporting the resurrection of Christ I first ran into a sentence that kind of altered the way I was thinking.
Jesus did not raise himself from the dead. God raised Jesus! God raised his son!
For some reason that statement cleared the way I was thinking about things. And then another thought occurred to me.
Remember in Matthew 27:46 (KJV); And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? That is to say, My God, my God, why has thou forsaken me?
Jesus felt he was alone, his connection with God had become silent and unresponsive.
Perhaps God was silent at that time, because He was crying and in pain as well as Jesus. Perhaps he was silent because He was a parent and He was watching his Son die. God had not forsaken his Son. He was with Him even as he endured the pain and spent his life upon the cross.
And then He raised Him from the dead!
