Verse of the Day (Page 254)

Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

¹Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  ²But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.  And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:  And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children;  To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.

¹²For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers:  but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.  ¹³And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?

³¹  Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: ³²  And be ye kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
