Verse of the Day (Page 228)

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.  If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.    For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have:  for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.    So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.   Because the carnal mind is enmity against God:  for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reprove.  But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.  But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.  For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:  Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

My little children, these things I write unto you, that ye sin not.  And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:    And he is the propitiation for our sins:  and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.  For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh:  and these are contrary the one to the other:  so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;  Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not  convenient:  but rather giving of thanks.

Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.    And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.    Whosever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest:  for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.  Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father who is merciful. i

But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected:  hereby know we that we are in him.  He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
